Who we are
Águas da Azenha is a project born from the idea of connecting people, ideas, and cultures. Founded in 2021 by German cultural scientist Ruth Abraham, the Community Space is located in the heart of Coimbra and offers writing events, community nights, and workshops.
Based on strong values, the space is also open to the community for events, art classes, and more.

“Ruth Abraham, founder and CEO of Aguas da Azenha, Entrepreneur and author. Born and raised in Germany, she was interested in the differences of humans since she was little – always with the question in mind how we can live together in a better way. Ruth is a cultural scientist and studied philosophy and sociology of systems. She lives in Portugal with her three kids since 2017 and started the first version of the project in 2018. She now lives in Coimbra after moving the Community Space into the heart of the city in 2024.”
